Motivational

These are some of my favourite motivational quotes, sayings and stories. Enjoy.
Ann

"Winners make things happen. Losers let things happen."
Thoughts and Beliefs are not simply nebulous words floating about in our heads.
They are instead electromagnetic realities, which once conceived,
have an intense desire to manifest themselves in our lives.
The stronger the thought,
The more quickly it will come into our experience.
We get what we concentrate on.
“We magnetise into our lives whatever we hold in our thoughts.”

James Baldwin states "Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they never fail to imitate them."

I believe a baby or child does not understand your words but they can understand your body language, and get a message, whether it is the one you want to give or not.. If you look worried about something, they will think something is wrong and will get frightened. So in the midst of your fear if you smile and keep calm you will instantly reassure your child.

African Proverb.
It takes a village to raise a child.

How sad we work so hard that we now live in splendid isolation, not creating a support network, and not knowing what is normal any more, or wishing to seek or share wisdom.

Tiny Frogs Life's lesson No. 1

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs, who arranged a running competition.

The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer

on the contestants...

The race began...

Honestly...No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:

"Oh, WAY too difficult !!"

"They will NEVER make it to the top!!"

or:

"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one...Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher...

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up...

But ONE continued higher and higher and higher... This one wouldn't give up

in the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower,

Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top.

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal? It turned out...That the winner was DEAF.

The wisdom of this story is: Never listen to other people's tendencies to be

negative or pessimistic...

Because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you.

(the ones you have in your heart. )

Always think of the power words have.

Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions.

Therefore: ALWAYS be...POSITIVE.

And above all: Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you can not fulfil your dreams.

Always think: God and I can do this.

I CAN CHANGE MY BELIEFS BY ALLOWING MYSELF

TO DESIRE SOMETHING BEYOND THEM.

You always have two choices.

Each morning I wake up and say I have two choices.

I can choose to be in a good mood,

Or

I can choose to be in a bad mood.

I always choose to be in a good mood.

“If I was any better I’d be twins.”

Each time a bad thing happens,

I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it.

I always choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining

I can choose to accept their complaint,

Or I can point out the positive side of living.

Can life be that simple?

Of course it can be.

Life is all about choices.

When you cut away all the junk,

Every situation is about choice.

You choose how you react to the situation.

You choose how people will affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or in a bad mood.

It’s your choice how you live your Life.

Every day you have the choice to either,

Enjoy your life or hate it.

The only thing that is truly yours,

That no one can control or take away from you

Is Your Attitude

If you can take care of that,

Everything else in life becomes easier.

COURAGE IS RESISTANCE TO FEAR, MASTERY OF FEAR-

I wish.

A very famous Obstetrician was vacationing on a tropical island.

Walking along a beautiful beach he found a lamp half buried in the sand.

He picked it up and started rubbing off the dirt, when a Genie appeared to grant him 3 wishes.

After some careful thought the Obstetrician said,

“ I want to have the best outcomes.”

“ I want the lowest caesarean rates in the country.”

I want all women to be able to afford my care.”

The Genie said,

“ Done, You are now a Midwife.”

“NO! WAIT”

shouted the Obstetrician, as the trail of smoke drifted back into the lamp.

But it was too late.

Best Advise “Let Your Monkey Do it.

Letting the Primate in you do the work is a short way of saying not to let your over busy mind interfere with the ancient wisdom of your body.

Things that primates do not do in labour that Women do- and that interferes with labour:

Monkeys do not think of technology as necessary to give birth.

Monkeys do not obsess about their bodies being inadequate.

Monkeys do not blame their condition on any one else.

Monkeys do not do maths about their dilation to speculate how long labour might take.

(“It has taken me 8 hours to get to 5cms dilated so it will take me at least another 8hrs to get to 10”)

Monkeys in labour get into the position that feels BEST, not the one they have been to assume.

Monkeys are not self-conscious about making noises, farting, or pooping during labour.

(After all even Queens and Movie Stars poop –every day, if they are healthy.)

How can you “let your monkey do it” in hospital?

It really helps to mentally prepare to be a little wild while you are there.

Try to behave as much as possible as you would in your own bedroom.

Be willing to be unconventional if that might help your labour along.

Keep the lighting at a subtle level.

Only have people around you who positively enhance the experience.

Have people knock and wait for permission before entering your room.

EVEN IF YOUR ON THE RIGHT TRACK,

She Who Believes in Herself

Trusting her instincts was

the hardest thing she ever did.

But she listened to the whispering of her heart.

She pushed forth with the faith in her skills…

And faith in her knowledge

That she could succeed.

And she did.

In the end, trusting her heart

Was the smartest thing she ever did!

THE BUTTERFLY AND THE EPISIOTOMY

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.

A small opening appeared, and he watched the Butterfly struggle to force it’s body through that little hole.

It seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no further.

The Man helped the Butterfly;

He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of cocoon.

The Butterfly then emerged easily.

But it had a swollen body and small, shrivelled wings.

The man expected that,

at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

It didn’t.

the Butterfly spent the rest of it’s life crawling around with a swollen body and shrivelled wings. It was never able too fly.

What the Man did not understand

was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the Butterfly to get through the tiny opening were Gods way of forcing the fluid from the body of the Butterfly into it’s wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved freedom from the cocoon.

"When women's lives are busy, their money and work paramount,

they come into birth with the same expectations as their trips to a convenience store:

they want to get in and get out with what they came for.

But natural birth requires preparation,

emotional and physical."

A Native American Grandfather

was talking to his Grandson

about how he felt.

He said “I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart,

One wolf is a vengeful, angry, violent one,

The other wolf is the

loving, compassionate one”

“Which one will win the fight in your heart?”

The Grandfather answered:

“THE ONE

I FEED.”

THE ONLY THING THAT STANDS BETWEEN WHAT YOU WANT AND GET FROM LIFE,

IS OFTEN MERELY THE WILL TO TRY AND THE FAITH TO

BELIEVE IT IS POSSIBLE.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how
things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make
it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It
seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and
placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first
she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she
placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a
word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the
carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed
them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?" "Carrots,
eggs, and coffee," she replied. Her mother brought her closer and asked
her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.

The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After
pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the
mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee.
The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then
asked,

"What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same
adversity ... boiling water . Each reacted differently. The carrot went
in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the
boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its
thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting
through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee
beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they
had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter.
"When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a
carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with
pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I
the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat?
Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a break-up, a financial
hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my
shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff
spirit and hardened heart? Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean
actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the
pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavour. If
you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better
and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and
trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How
do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make
you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you
happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't
go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.

Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone
around you is crying.

Change is difficult, even change that has a positive impact on our lives.

For any change of habits to have a chance to take root, we must have a plan of action.

Jumping into change for emotional reasons is not likely to produce lasting effects.

In order to get through the pain of dealing with change, you must become comfortable with being uncomfortable. You must believe that the change is for the better, and it will not always involve the difficulty it does now. You must be willing to look for the bright spots in the midst of what looks like misery.

You can succeed. You have done more difficult things than this, and you have what it takes to succeed.

GOALS.

Setting realistic and measurable goals is one way of keeping your motivation high.

Unrealistic goals are counterproductive and defeating.
